Cork Craft @ Ballymaloe

WoW!
What a wonderful weekend we had at the Ballymaloe Litfest !
It was my first public foray in my new role as the coordinator of Cork Craft & Design and we had lots and lots of fun at a really fab festival in the beautiful setting of Ballymaloe House.

We were part of the fringe event in the big shed and we set up a Crafty corner where we showcased some of the amazing craft being produced in Cork today.

Felt Magic

Christina Jasmin Roser Feltmaker

& its no wonder that Carmel Creaners embroidered linen napkins were so popular ! Aren't they beautiful ?

We had lots of other great makers displaying their wares and it was fun to mix it up a bit !
Some of the upcycled furniture from the Paint Pot was used to great effect displaying some beautiful handmade books from  Barbara Huberts Bookbindery  in Cork City.

Books & Writing Desk

Fergal from Horizon Furniture brought along some amazing furniture including this super table entitled Lady Macbeth

As the weekend wend on the pictures got worse - can you tell ?
Apologies to the makers for not showing off their craftsmanship in the best light !
and on that note here's a pretty awful shot that gives SOME idea of the crowds who were visiting our little shop !

I really enjoyed the experience of meeting all the makers and indeed the customers who were so interested and enthusiastic about the work we presented.

I'm really  looking forward to the next Cork Craft & Design event and hope to see you there!

Thanks for visiting & do come back again soon !

I got a new job !

Grrr!!! I can't find the camera...
And even if I could every crafty project I own is unfinished ...
There is no light today so my iPhone pictures look like they were taken in a dungeon ..

I'll just have to share with you by BIG news of the month !
I got a new job !

My new job is a lovely crafty one, I am the (ahem! Drum roll please!) NEW Cork Craft & Design Coordinator. Basically I will be coordinating the activities of Cork Craft & Design; an umbrella group for Craft-makers & Designers in Cork County and City, Ireland. Whoop Whoop !

Its early days yet and I'm just finding my feet getting to meet all the people involved but my main focus will be Craft Month (August) 2013. There are over 140 truly exceptional crafts people members of Cork Craft and Design and I hope that I can help support them in bringing their work to the public.

Hopefully over the next few weeks I'll figure out how to manage my time better and still have some crafty projects of my own to share with you as well as sharing some of the beautiful work of our members.

My first job is re-jigging the website so I'm not going to post a link until its done but if your on Facebook or Twitter please do click on the links & follow Cork Craft & Design from there !

Thanks for visiting & do come back soon!

Lots of love,
Siubhan x
